Octoberama is Charley Harper’s autumn picture, a mandarin duck crossing still water under a patchwork of red, yellow, orange, and brown leaves. No published caption turns up with the print, so the title does the work: October gathered into one square of flats, the bird and its reflection set against the falling color. It is the season reduced to pattern, a fall field guide in a single frame.
