In 1999, Charley Harper and his wife Edie traveled to Costa Rica’s Monteverde Cloud Forest, where local children shared the mist, color, and living density of one of the world’s most fragile ecosystems. High on the Tilarán ridge, Pacific and Caribbean life meet in a dripping canopy of orchids, bromeliads, strangler figs, and wild avocado. Charley distilled that encounter into his signature minimal realism, placing thirty-nine plants and animals—quetzal, bellbird, toucanet, sloth, morpho, tree frog, and more—into a single ordered field of green. The poster was created to raise funds for Centro de Educación Creativa, the Cloud Forest School, a bilingual environmental school on protected land in Monteverde.
